The fridge looks beautiful! Immaculate surface, clean and bright interior. Fashionable acrylic shelving. Clean and modern. A showpiece for the kitchen. And super quiet.
Overall this fridge is smaller than my previous one. The tradeoff being from not sticking out as far and having the ice maker space in the fridge mean less room for food. Also because it is lighter it feels less 'solid'. I worry about lifespan, pump cooling and insulation. There are also some surprising design flaws for being part of a solid brand like Bosch. In short, I would rate it as a good mid-level fridge but priced as a high-end unit, which it is not.
The design of the ice maker was a prime reason for my purchase. Breaking the functions into two pieces - the freezer and the dispenser seems more reliable to me. I don't know about in practice - the unit is still very new. Crushed ice is great.
I think that the engineers did a good job with the shelves around the dispenser, given the tradeoff. The limited space makes it easy to see and grab condiments and cokes. I even use the tiny butter stick slot across the top.
Eggs would have been better if there was not a freeze risk.
The shelves in the right-hand door are a problem. They hang from little 'buttons' built into the door, but rather than putting buttons all the way and letting me arrange the shelves, the engineers put them in three areas with some flexibility. This prevents me from buying and adding a fourth shelf in an already smallish unit.
Features - the 'Fresh' option is a gimmic. It just sets the fridge to the optimal temp - 36degrees.
I love the white LED control panel when you open the doors. Astonishingly - there is no option to show current fridge and freezer temps.
I like the stainless steel rear wall. I feel that helps to hold a reserve amount of 'cold'.
I'm not personally a fan of 'quiet' as a driving design feature. I'd rather have a powerful pump that I can hear if it is working hard. The initial cool down took over half a day, even with super-chill enabled for both freezer and fridge.
The cold water dispenser is poorly done. It points backwards - which prevents shooting water onto the floor but also prevents using it to fill large-mouthed containers like drink pitchers. More critically, it also drips after disengaging. The spill tray is alway wet - constant wet is bad for health. I kinda worry that it may have prostate problems.
And one small detail - my previous fridge doors were *not* magnetic! All photos, shopping list etc were stuck to the side of the fridge. I'm so happy to have a pictures of my family cluttering the beautiful face of this fridge.
