Easy to use

Over all very happy with the sound and ease of setup. One star deducted because the remote control randomly stopped working. Went through customer service. Did all the troubles shooting nothing fixed it so they sent me a new one. Same problem still does not work. Solution was to download the app to my phone. The sound bar should have a button on it to change the sound settings and not need a remote control.

We bought this product a month ago along with a 65 inch LG G3 OLED tv. The sound is very good. Hookup was pretty simple and the presets make it easy to find a setting for daily use and for getting an in theater experience. I like this sound bar with the external bass speaker.

This system rocks.. We bought this to go with our new LG-OLED TV. We were tired of having to use 2 remotes to control sound and video. We plugged this one in and that was it. Super sound. It even turns on and off with the TV and we can use either our Apple Remote or the LG one..

I have had this sound bar for 3 weeks very nice but overpriced for what you get. I have not utilized all available features. But what I have used works well with one exception. Best Buy sold me the compatible LG wireless rear speakers but they left out the key instruction to get these to connect. Too much information to list but if you buy this unit and get the rear speakers down load the LG speaker app in order to connect these to the sound bar.

LG has upgraded and downgraded at the same time. I love the sound quality and the clarity of the S80QY dont get me wrong but theres some pros and cons. I have this paired with the SPQ8-S rear speakers. The build for the main unit and SPQ8-S is honestly not so great. Im not sure why LG went backwards with the cloth material. The build for the subwoofer is awesome though. Set up is easy and simple using the App. I generally keep it at Cinema Mode because the voice volume is a bit louder and clearer. The SPQ8-S kit adds way more sound and I love that they improved it because the previous version was low even when turned up to 6. I have the new one set at 4 and its loud. Music Mode is a bit better. Not much of a difference from the previous models. Its good but not compared to other sound bars. Gaming Mode new - It actually works. There is a difference when playing FPS games. The sound of gunfire bombs and background noise is spot on. Connectivity - This is the biggest improvement from LG. The 60 more connectivity coverage helps a lot if you want to have your subwoofer or rear speaker modem in other places of the room. I havent had any cut outs or drops. I placed them in different areas and nothing. Theres flexibility of placement. Props to LG for making this improvement. I like that theres more clarity and crisp to the dialogue but its not good at low or mid volume. The voices are very well heard at 25 or more however when the sound effects come on the sound bar is blasting at you. I have to keep turning the volume up and down and thats kind of annoying. DRC and Night Mode doesnt work either. Those settings only compress the subwoofer and bass levels. The new Up Firing Center Channel doesnt add to the dialogue. I have it turned up to 6 and still not much of a difference. I have the Treb at -2 and Bass at +2 for it not to sound hallow. Clear Voice Mode - It honestly doesnt work when you think of Voice Enhancement. It just makes the unit sound more like a hallow echo box. Atmos Upfiring Speakers - They work but when set to +3 or more. Its not convincing like the others. Its there but barely. When watching Atmos content it feels like the height sound is pushed to the back and not so much above. Overall the soundstage has definitely improved. You can hear when an object or voices transitions from one side of the room to the other. Watching action movies you can the little sound effects like gunfire lasers swords bricks punches kicks slaps etc. which is cool but it still just a little better. One note the new models arent good unless you add the SPQ8-S kit. The rear speakers makes up for the immersive sound. I like the clarity and crisp it produces but for me this isnt an huge upgrade from what Ive had before. My LG SN10YG 5.1.2 sounds very similar. I mention this is another forum and got feedback that this is a home theatre product which isnt for met apartments. Yeah I get that but the previous models didnt have this issue. The new models just dont have that balance. Ive previously owned many LG models and I never had to go up to 25. I usually had the volume between 15-20. The voices were way louder at low-mid volume and at times it did get a bit lost in the sound effects at high volumes but it was still better in opinion. Also to mention the previous models had 50 watt drivers and the new ones are 45 watt. Im assuming this is to account for the new up-firing channel. I wish they kept the 50 watt center channel and the rest 45. Sonos recently reprocessed the sound to the Arc which made it more balanced to where the dialogue was enhanced and the sound effects were a bit lower. Maybe if LG made a similar adjustment in a update then Ill consider keeping this sound bar. If not then Im going to resell this unit. Id rather keep my previous LG 5.1.2 w/ the SPK8-S considering I have recently moved my wifi router a further distance and dont have anymore cut outs no complaints there.

I did a ton of research on sound bars and finally decided on the S80QY. Installation was a breeze and its a great addition to my 55 inch LG OLED TV. I was hoping for a dynamic improvement in sound and I wasnt disappointed. This is a great sound bar and the subwoofer delivers deep bass sounds.

NEW stands for Never Ever Worked Set everything up and the unit would not power up. Called LG and they are suppose to be sending me a new unit. They said 2-5 days its been 9 days so NOT very happy

The only issues I have with this product and the corresponding surround speakers is that its surround speakers are only 3 ohm and provide little to no depth even in a small room 850 ft2. Granted the room doesnt have the best acoustics but I didnt feel the Dolby Atmos and thats what id like to match the 77 G2s performance. I will be returning this product to go for the flagship soundbar S95QR.

This Sound bar goes so well with LG TV products. Hooking it up to a C2 OLED LG TV was a breeze and you didnt even need to connect the subwoofer as it detected it automatically. Love the upwards firing speakers. The App for the soundbar is very easy to navigate and very responsive. Only two things I would change is integrate the sound bar app into LG ThinQ app the subwoofer doesnt have a punch when the volume is low even though it actually fills up the room the is no pounding.

I have only had this up and running for a few days but out of the box the product seems overall pretty good. I have one big issue the status display light never goes out when in use. It only dims. So if this is directly under your TV like it should be it is very distracting when you have the lights are out. I have other brand sound bars and the display goes out after 15 seconds. Seems like a no brainer. So it might have to go back unless they come up with a workaround or update.

Great Upgrade

This sound bar is replacing a 12 year old model that I have used extensively. To say that this is better is an understatement. From the unboxing it was set up in under 5 minutes. The wireless subwoofer really does make the process very easy. The sound that comes from this sound bar is incredible. HOWEVER I highly recommend connecting the app and taking the time to tweak the various sound level sliders. Yes you can make all of the adjustments with the remote but I found it much easier to make multiple adjustments simultaneously with the app. To me at first the center upward firing speaker was a bit too loud. However after adjustment I am really happy with the sound. It may be a little annoying to listen to the same song on repeat while you make the adjustments but the time is well worth it. Especially when you are spending this kind of money on a sound bar. One small thing that I have noticed: the wireless sound bar sometimes takes a moment to wake up when the sound bar first turns on. You can clearly hear sound and then it kick in a little later on. This isnt a big problem at all but just something to note that it does occur as is true with most wireless subwoofers. Overall this sound bar is incredible with some minor tweaks and the LG sound quality is exactly what I would expect from this level sound bar.
